Premier launches new online customer service training program.

Friday, 12 August 2011

Premier Colin Barnett today encouraged all Western Australian accommodation and hospitality businesses to take advantage of a new online customer service training program.

Mr Barnett said the Australian Hotels Association (AHA) of Western Australia’s Service with a Smile would complement and enhance existing customer service training.

“For the first time, the AHA (WA) - with the support of the State Government and Tourism WA - has developed a WA-specific free online customer service training and recognition program,” the Premier said

“This is available to all organisations irrespective of whether they are a member of the AHA (WA).

“I believe this new initiative will deliver benefits to the State’s hospitality, tourism and retail businesses.

“It comes at an important time for this State when we are about to stage the biggest international event Perth has seen for almost 50 years, the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2011.

“We want to leave an unforgettable positive impression of Western Australia on the world leaders and international visitors who will be here for CHOGM 2011.”

Mr Barnett said the training program was suitable for anyone involved in the local accommodation, hospitality, tourism and also retail industries.

The AHA has developed a customised package which can either deliver a full customer service training program, or complement existing in-house customer service training already undertaken by businesses.  It will be available online, 24-7 and free.

Staff will be encouraged to enrol with incentives such as being provided with a certificate, lapel badge and the chance to win a luxury holiday in Western Australia.

Venues will receive point of sale marketing material to recognise their commitment to customer service.
