Flying on the aircraft to Melbourne was akin to being on a school excursion with the flight filled to the brim with fellow AIME delegates. Carrier Qantas Boeing 737-800 Flight Number QF 439 departing 14:00 - 19 February 2012 Duration One hour and 35 minutes Class Economy, Seat 26B Configuration 3-3 in economy class Check In Experience Check-in was seamless with automated check-in at Sydney airport. It still feels odd not to have any human contact prior to going through security but it really is a fast and effective way to check-in if you are tech savvy. I say this because the lady attempting to check-in next to me didn't have her glasses handy, nor did she understand the on-screen prompts. On Time Service The flight departed approximately twenty minutes late due to the crew being required to board from a different flight that arrived late. Cabin/Seat Condition The seats were in good condition but the air conditioning was turned up very high unnecessarily causing many passengers to complain. Food & Beverage Passengers were served a delectable passionfruit and lemon eclair along with hot and cold beverages during the flight. Entertainment Mounted screens showcasing "Modern Family ensured that, for those not conducting business, that many laughs were had, with giggles emanating from across the aircraft at certain points. "Qantas: The Australian Way" proved a good read with the highlight for me being the article on the "Growth Faculty's Global Leadership Forum" held in Sydney in December 2011. Did you know that it was through George Clooney finding out that people were using Google Earth to look over his back fence that gave him the idea to use the same technology for his aid work in the Sudan? "Not on our Watch" keeps an eye on atrocities in the region, aims to keep governments accountable and raises awareness through the actor's profile. Service Service was fantastic, with the flight attendants making jokes throughout the flight. Without wanting to sound controversial...they were very 'Virgin-esque', something that I think is much needed onboard Qantas. |
