Marketing, PR, consumer awareness and trade relationships are undertaken by the Unique Tourism Collection (UTC) who have twenty years experience in bringing luxury and unique travel, and tourism to Australians, working directly with trade, media and consumers.

The importance to increase understanding and highlight Norfolk Island’s diverse tourism experiences through PR support and destination advertising is of the highest priority to the island’s tourism sector.

In addition to the newly appointed PR firm, Air New Zealand which was awarded the air travel contract for the Island by the Commonwealth Government in December 2011 has had a successful first month of trade into Norfolk Island with good numbers and on-time flight schedules. Air New Zealand fly into Norfolk Island using their A320 aircrafts, and offer four direct flights weekly from Sydney and Brisbane. Air New Zealand has operated into Norfolk Island since 1947 and has significant presence in the Tasman market.
David Buffett, Chief Minister of Norfolk Island, comments in light of negative press released this month that the principle industry of tourism for the Island remains viable and is being marketed strongly. Since April 2011, an upswing of consumer visitation to Norfolk has been evident, and reception to the destination is strong. Adding another dimension of tourism to Norfolk Island is work underway to secure funding for infrastructure changes to continue to attract cruise ships to the Island and ensure successful disembarkation.
