Aussies, perfect travellers for Nevada

More direct air services, a great dollar comparison, enthusiastic spirit and a mutual tongue makes Australians the perfect market for the US and Nevada, according to to the city's tourism head.

Speaking to e-Travel Blackboard at the destination’s Come Play showcase in Sydney last week, Nevada Commission on Tourism deputy director Larry Friedman explained as well as speaking the same language, Aussies have the desire to explore and Nevada has the attractions and space awaiting exploration.

“We speak the same language and you know Australian travellers are independent and they like to explore less known attractions,” he said.

“We all want to see the icons but the Australian traveller is perfect for the US because of all the less known sites they want to experience.”

Already the region’s number one destination in room nights, Mr Friedman said the bureau had upped its marketing efforts down under this year after announcing Los Angeles representatives, Gate 7 would also promote tourism into Nevada.

He said the decision was made to “compliment” the company’s work in LA as it would “take care of gateway cities”.

Last week Mr Friedman also told e-Travel Blackboard that ‘Quirkiness’ was part of the destination’s appeal to travellers, particularly those eager to visit the quirkiest, loneliest and loveliest.
