Gatwick gets a taste of Jamie Oliver

Friday, 13 July 2012

Travellers at London Gatwick airport can now experience a new dining option as Jamie Oliver opens a new restaurant, marking his debut in the airport food and beverage business.

The UK celebrity chef’s restaurant includes three concepts: Jamie’s Italian, Union Jacks Bar and new concept Jamie’s Italian Bakery.

Based on the chef’s downtown restaurants, Jamie’s Italian is a full-serviced offer with a pasta making area and full size pizza oven.

Union Jacks is influenced by the high street brand mixed with a unique Gatwick menu for those customers in a hurry.  This concept is more for grazing, nibbling and drinking" before a flight.

For those in more of a rush and wanting a ‘grab and go’ option will find Jamie’s Italian Bakery suitable.  With its emphasis on freshly baked items including homemade pizza, focaccias, freshly prepared salads, fruit, yoghurt and homemade jams this is the perfect option for early morning flyers seeking breakfast on the go.

Jamie Oliver said he was excited about this new opening.

“Whether you want to dine in the Italian, grab food for the flight from the bakery, or savour some good old Blighty grub before you jet off, this is something really special, just for Gatwick.”

The restaurants are open from the first flight of the day until the last flight departs.
