Sunshine Coast Destination Ltd (SCDL) has its sights firmly set on bringing even more Kiwis to our shores and is delivering the Coast’s number one international market with plenty of good reasons to visit.

Speaking directly with consumers at the ever popular Flight Centre Travel Show in Auckland yesterday, SCDL was shining the spotlight on our region and continuing to promote the direct flights with Air New Zealand from Auckland to the Sunshine Coast.

The one day show attracted over 8000 people as SCDL Marketing Coordinator, Janelle Pettit was joined by Sunshine Coast operators, Dreamtime Resorts and Australia Zoo.

Steve Cooper, CEO of SCDL said, “Seven day holiday packages have been coordinated by Infinity Holidays and SCDL was promoting and selling these on our stand. In addition, there was a lot of interest in SCDL’s new collateral; The 2012-2013 Official Visitors Guide and 50 Things to Do. We want the Sunshine Coast to be top of mind for our Kiwi friends to keep coming back to our region.”

Wholesaler training will also be undertaken with key travel partners in New Zealand to update on new Sunshine Coast accommodation, attractions, latest trends and packages to capitalise on the increased interest in the destination.

“Kiwi visitors traditionally stay longer and spend well with local businesses, which is why it is important for us to continue to attend and put our best foot forward at the travel expo shows and provide vital updates for agents in New Zealand,” added Mr Cooper.

New Zealand is a critical source market for the Sunshine Coast accounting for almost a third of all international visitors to the region. The region attracted 75,000 New Zealand visitors to the year ending March 2012.
