Growth amongst world youth travellers has been sustained and is expected to progress over the coming years, according to a new survey.

STAY WYSE’s sixth annual Youth Travel Accommodation (YTA) survey consisted of respondents from 2,200 YTA establishments across the globe.

STAY WYSE Association chairman Ulises Ortega was pleased with the growing year-on-year occupancy rates.

“These results are amazing and show what a vibrant and buoyant market there is in such hard times,” he said.

“We have seen some fascinating statistics come through this year and we can now put actual figures to some of the market trends of occupancy seen in Australia, Europe and the US.”

According to STAY WYSE, the results of the survey will allow operators to benchmark their own performance against global and regional standards.

The 2012 survey provides results for 26 countries and nine cities, worldwide, detailing occupancy rates, revenues, bed rates, booking sources, revenues per available bed, booking lead times and more.

Official survey findings will be released during the STAY WYSE seminar at the World Youth & Student Travel Conference in September at the Sheraton San Diego Bay Hotel, California.
