The Visitor Centre Association of Western Australia (inc) is pleased to announce Armadale as the winner of the 2013 Host Town bid.
The Association received two submissions for the 2013 Host Town and Vice Chairperson, Peter Hill said “The Board had a difficult decision to make as the quality of the proposals were of a very high standard.
Ultimately, the City of Armadale provided a submission that met all of the key outcomes of hosting this great Tourism event and the Association is looking forward to bringing our members to the Armadale region”.
This win will see the City of Armadale host the 19th Annual Visitor Servicing Conference in 2013, which will attract key stakeholders within Tourism and Visitor Servicing from all over the State and Australia.
In addition to the Annual Visitor Servicing Conference, Armadale will also host the 24th GWN7 Top Tourism Awards Gala Dinner, where Visitor Centres will be officially recognised for their role and contribution to Western Australia’s Tourism industry. The winner of the 2013 GWN7 Top Tourism Award will take home a $25,000 advertising package with GWN7, as well as category awards sponsored by The West Australian, RAC Travel Business Planning & Marketing Award and the Vanguard Press Judges Award.
These combined activities present the City of Armadale with a wonderful opportunity to showcase its attractions, facilities and overall tourism product to approximately 80 delegates, who are working at the ‘face’ of Tourism all over WA and who service more than 3.2 million visitors a year.
“Armadale has long been a hidden treasure in WA tourism. We have an incredible City filled with picturesque hills and valleys, breath-taking parks and reserves including the renowned Araluen Botanic Park and a plethora of shopping facilities.
“We are immensely proud to host delegates from around the nation as part of the conference and look forward to showcasing our fantastic City" said Mayor Zelones.
A representative from the City of Armadale will conduct a presentation at the upcoming 2012 Visitor Servicing Conference, which is being held in Mandurah from the 18th to the 20th of September.
The Visitor Centre Association of WA is a not-for-profit peak industry body, representing more than 102 Visitor Centres and sub-representation of approximately 4,500 tourism businesses throughout Western Australia. |
