The recently re-opened Grand lady of the Brisbane River, the Regatta Hotel, has wasted no time in giving back to the city that supported her during 18 months of restoration following the January 2011 floods – the hotel has announced the inaugural Flying Duck Lunch supporting the PA Research Foundation will be held on Wednesday October 10. This finely feathered event will be hosted by Triple M’s Marto, in the new Boatshed Restaurant, with 100% of proceeds going to the Regatta Hotel’s major co-beneficiary for 2012, The PA Research Foundation which is bringing research to life 365 days a year for cancer patients across Queensland. The 2012 Flying Duck Lunch will begin at 12noon and will pay tribute to all things duck and ducklike. Guests will receive a Fluffy Duck Cocktail on arrival; there’ll be a giant, grown-up game of the classic Duck Duck Goose; table raffle rings; a grand auction, and an-action packed mini duckling race where guests can sponsor their very own tiny, fluffy fire cracker! Featuring an impressive line-up of cute, yet competitive little quackers, the ducklings will race each other in an epic showdown for ultimate glory in the Regatta Hotel’s first ever ‘Tiny Duck Water Derby’. It will be a duck-off not to be missed. There is also rumour of a visit from a very special surprise guest; however no ducks will confirm or deny this. Tickets are $99pp or $89pp for a table of 10 and include a custom-created three course set menu duck lunch from Executive Chef Shane Keighley and this kitchen team, a premium beverage package and every ticket purchased goes into the draw to win the ‘Lucky Duck Lucky Draw’.
