Celebration was the order of the night for Spencer Travel who won the Tourism category at the 2012 City of Sydney Business Awards which took place at the Westin Hotel on Wednesday night.

Spencer Travel was also one of the 3 shortlisted finalists selected from 22 categories for the Business of the Year Award at Wednesday’s event.

The 2012 awards were the biggest yet with a record number of 883 businesses nominated and 60,000 Sydneysiders casting their vote.

Commenting on their success in the competition, Penny Spencer, Managing Director of Spencer Travel explains,

“We are thrilled to win this award. Being chosen as the winner in the Tourism category and being  selected as one of the three finalists in the overall Business of the Year Award against such tough competition is fantastic.”

“The feedback we got from organisers on our submission was really positive. As some of the selection criteria was based on innovation in business, community participation, staff education, training and strategy planning it is a great indictor that we are doing things right.”

Further success was enjoyed on Wednesday night when Shire Travel, a branch of Spencer Travel also took home gold when it was voted the Travel with Kidz Agency of the Year at the Travel with Kidz Awards which took place at the American Club in Sydney. Shire Travel’s Consultant Dayna Porter also won the Rookie of the Year Award at Wednesday’s event.
