Greece’s industry leaders are optimistic tourism will take a positive turn this year, with data indicating a potential for tourism to increase by an extra one million in foreign arrivals this year.

According to the country’s statistics, British arrivals are expected to pick up by 20 percent in 2013, while Germany, French and Nordic markets are expected to increase by 15 percent.

Federation of Hellenic Tourism Enterprises (SETE) president Andreas Andreadis said the tourism industry remained “crucial element” for the country’s economic growth, accounting for up to 40 percent of Greece’s growth over the next decade.

Hoping to build tourism, Greece has also announced it will launch a new promotion campaign at this month’s ITB Berlin under the new slogan ‘Greece, All Time Classic’.

Last year, Greece welcomed up to 16 million international arrivals and € 10 billion in revenue.
