Agents Support Systems, publishers of e-Travel Blackboard Australia, are seeking a Journalist to join the existing team.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone that has recently completed their studies in journalism/media/communications and is ready to embark on an exciting new role.  A few years experience within the travel or media industries will be a plus, but are not necessary. The successful candidate will be trained in chasing up stories and crafting news pieces.

As a key member of this group, your major responsibilities will be to:

  • Localise press releases in order to generate content for the publication
  • Work on sourcing quotes and factual information in order to put interesting stories together
  • Covering industry functions/events during the day and after hours while working to a deadline
  • Co-ordinate and communicate with fellow colleagues on stories you are working on
  • Maintain and develop relationships with our existing client base as creating new contacts
  • Be open to learning about the Australian, New Zealand, Asia and The American travel & tourism industry

Skills the successful candidate will have:

  • A professional telephone manner with excellent customer service skills
  • Have experience interviewing and conversing with persons of interest
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Prior journalism experience is a plus
  • Computer skills, focusing on the Microsoft suite of products
  • Knowledge of the travel & tourism industry or online media is highly preferable
  • A Communications/Journalism qualification
