In order to revert to its primary operating system, Navitaire, Virgin Blue will be suspending its online and telephone reservation services from 9.00pm tonight until 5.00am Thursday (AEDT). Web check-in, kiosk check-in and Check-mate will also be closed from 8.00pm tonight and should be back in operation by 5.00am Thursday (AEDT) according to the airline. Virgin Blue said the suspension is a result of measures to fix computer problems which crashed last week, causing flight cancellations and massive delays. "The initial problem with our primary operating system has been identified and solved," Virgin chief executive John Borghetti said in a statement on Saturday. "We are now making plans to revert to this system on Wednesday October 6." Despite the suspension of quick check-in services, all flights will operate as planned, Virgin said. |
