Travelport Galileo displays Strategic GDS debut

Monday, 2 May 2011

Making its debut on a global distribution system (GDS), Australian carrier Strategic Airlines has selected Travelport’s Galileo to be the first online channel to distribute its routes and fares.

Travelport said that as part of the full content agreement, the carrier’s growing operations would be accessible to Galileo subscribers as well as agents and wholesalers using GDS systems Worldspan and Apollo over the coming weeks.

Focusing on the carrier’s “development”, Strategic Airline chief information officer Robert Kane said the online Company tailored the agreement “for the distribution of Strategic Airlines’ product to travel agents and wholesalers”.

“Travelport understands that priority and worked swiftly to help us bring forward this important element of our distribution strategy,” Mr Kane said.

Travelport Asia Pacific managing director Simon Nowroz added that the GDS Group was keen to support the carrier in its “next phase of growth” and the partnership would secure increased accessibility to the airline’s fares.

Strategic is the first Australian carrier to offer commercial passenger services as well as corporate charter flights.
