On Location at Pow Wow: Universal set to transform guest experiences

Tuesday, 31 May 2011

Universal Studios Hollywood is on the cusp of transforming guest experiences when it debuts the most technologically advanced ride ever built, Transformers: The Ride 3D.

Expected to open in April 2012, with Pow Wow delegates to be first in the world to experience the stimulated ride, it is promising to offer guests a cutting-edge mega-attraction never seen before at any theme park.

Based on the brand and film franchise, Transformers, the action sequences and special effects will "revolutionise theme park perceptions" according to Universal Studios, Vice President Sales, Thomas See.

"The Transformers story is multi-generational, everybody has experienced something or the other with the brand," Mr See told e-Travel Blackboard during an exclusive interview at Pow Wow 2011.

Beginning with a queuing experience estimated at 35 minutes, the attraction itself is only 5 minutes.

Australian business to Universal Studios continues to rank as the number one inbound market, bypassing the UK in 2010.

Mr See continues to encourage travel agents to up sell the Parks' VIP package to Australians, on the back of the strong dollar and increased enhancements.

"The product is great value and offers a richer experience," Mr See said.

The star-treatment VIP Experience must be pre-booked and is limited to a number of guests each day, offering customers a behind-the-scenes access to previously off-limits areas in the backlot of Universal Studios.

Continental breakfast at a VIP Lounge, unlimited food service and front-of-line access to attractions are just a few added benefits with the package.  VIP Guides, with complete knowledge of the Park's attractions and studio's history, also provide personal commentary during the luxury experience.

"We encourage overseas guests to stay in Southern California for a minimum of 4 days to be able to see and do everything in the area.  From a capital investment perspective, there's no other time in history that there has been so much investment made into attractions," Mr See said.
