Dreamworld is proud to announce that it has been selected as the Australian venue for the 2011 Asian Flow Series, proudly supported by Streets, with a competition event to be held at the parks FlowRider facility on Friday 16 September.
In 2006 Dreamworld installed Australias first Wave Loch Double FlowRider and fast became a favoured location for emerging FlowRiders, keen to improve their skills and compete with fellow local enthusiasts in one of the worlds newest board sports.
Five years down the track, the sport has grown globally and for the first time ever, FlowRiders from around the nation will have the opportunity to participate in an internationally held competition, the Asian Flow Series 2011 proudly supported locally by Streets and organized by Wave House Sentosa, Singapore.
A junior competition will also be held on the night to accommodate and encourage the growing participation in the sport by local Gold Coast youth.
Dreamworld will be just one of the venues in Asia Pacific to host a series event which will take place on Friday 16 September with close to 30 competitors set to take each other on in the two divisions including Mens Expert Flowboard and Expert Bodyboard.
Heats will be held in Wave House Sentosa (Singapore), Sunway Lagoon (Malaysia), Dreamworld (Australia) and Pacific Islands Club (Saipan) and in both divisions riders will be competing to win flights to Singapore including accommodation and the privilege of competing in the 2011 Asian Flow Series championship showdown where they can win major cash and product prizes. Winners in the junior category will not qualify for the finals in Singapore.
At Dreamworld up to 16 of the nations best FlowRiders will be able to compete in each of the set divisions with first place winners securing their ticket to Singapore for the finals to be held on 1 October, 2011.
The eventual champions of the Asian Flow Series will represent Asia Pacific in the third annual Flow Championships at Wave House Durban, South Africa from 5 - 9 October, 2011.
The Asian Flow Series 2011 will provide competitors with the opportunity to experience high level competition against riders from the regional FlowRiding community. Reaching out beyond the local enthusiasts, the Asian Flow Series 2011 will appeal to all who can appreciate an active outdoor lifestyle. |
