Knowing how excited we, as Australians, get when we receive news of a new ship home-porting in our waters, I couldn’t help but be overjoyed for New Yorkers when Norwegian decided to commence the maiden itineraries for Norwegian Breakaway from the Manhattan Cruise Terminal.

This ship alone is expected to attract an estimated additional USD $35 million to the local economy. Proof, once again, of the strength and benefits of cruising from an economical standpoint.

Sticking with Norwegian for a moment, a few weeks ago I discussed ‘bucket lists’ and how my cruising bucket list is growing every week. From a wedding onboard to naming a ship, I’ve managed to add something else to the bucket list…even though I may not necessarily have the skills for it.

Painting the hull of a ship.

Yes, that’s right…I was inspired by the story of iconic artist Peter Max this week, who is painting the signature artwork on the hull of Norwegian Breakaway. He described the commissioning as a “dream come true” and I have to agree!

What points are on your cruising bucket list?

Yours in cruising,
Natalie
