Cycle through Chiang Mai - take a private tour with Travel Indochina & 'Getaway'

Friday, 28 October 2011

Travel Indochina has teamed up with Channel Nine’s Getaway to offer viewers a private cycling tour of Thailand’s second largest city.

Recent flooding has completely receded from Chiang Mai. Low impact tourism, such as cycling, is one activity that assists in local economic recovery, and is part of Travel Indochina’s responsible tourism initiatives.

Featuring on the show at 5:30pm on Saturday 29 October, the Chiang Mai tour costs $68 per person, based on two people, and includes transfers, bicycle hire, helmets, accident insurance and a local English-speaking guide on a private basis.

Travellers will embark on a memorable and informative discovery of the city’s most interesting sights and beyond to explore temples, markets and the ancient city.

Starting along the banks of the Ping River, the half-day tour passes through a former leprosarium (now a home for the elderly in an impressive manicured colonial setting) and traditional teak homes, before exploring the ancient city of Wiang Khum Kham, which dates back to the 13th century.

The tour re-enters Chiang Mai’s old city through Tapae Gate and stops at the Somphet market for impromptu culinary lessons before ending at the traveller’s hotel.

Valid for tours from 1 Nov 2011 to 31 Dec 2012.
