Sailing onboard Holland America Line’s ms Amsterdam earlier this week gave me the chance to speak to many ‘constant cruisers’.

Those passengers who not only cruise for much of the year, but are so dedicated to a line that they often never even consider sailing with another.

It got me thinking about what it is that would entice me to only sail with one cruise line.

Would it be service, loyalty club benefits, onboard amenities, price, food, itinerary options? The list is endless!

For Dick and Grace Brown from Connecticut, who have sailed with Holland America since 1986 and have never even thought of embarking on a voyage with another line, it came down to what they know.

They feel at home onboard HAL and, where possible, try to stick to one of two ships in their fleet, ms Amsterdam and ms Rotterdam. What inevitably happens then with their yearly ‘Grand Voyage’ or ‘World Voyage’ sailings is that they inevitably know some of the crew, they can ask for their same cabin and they know their way around the ship.

For this retired couple, they don’t need any more than that and they truly love the brand.

What would be your prerequisites to sail on only one cruise line for the rest of your life?

Yours in cruising,
Natalie
