Post Office becomes one-stop travel shop

Australian travellers will be able to access foreign currency exchange, passports, merchandise, travel insurance, flights and bookings at Australia Post, making it a one-stop travel shop.

A multimillion dollar partnership with American Express will see a rollout of 200 Foreign Currency Exchange Outlets in Australia Post offices nationwide.

“The new partnership expands our retail footprint and provides another convenient way for travellers to gain access to our competitive rates, foreign exchange specialists, immediate access to more than 20 popular currencies and the offer of fee-free foreign exchange at Australia Post,” Vice President of American Express Foreign Exchange Services, Nick Dinopoulos said.

Brisbane’s GPO, is the first of hundreds of retail outlets to become a one-stop destination for travellers, featuring a dedicated Harvey World Travel outlet where customers can access a full range of travel booking services from domestic and international flights, to worldwide accommodation, cruises, car, rail and coach touring .

“It is another way for us to engage with travellers, and we believe they will be delighted with the convenience of accessing our professional travel service through this new store-in-store model,” Managing Director of Harvey World Travel, David Rivers said of the outlet.

In addition, Australia Post Managing Director and CEO Ahmed Fahour announced in Brisbane today the launch of Australia Post's own travel insurance product.
