IGLTA represented at Greek LGBT workshop

Thessaloniki, the second largest city in Greece, played host on 19 November to the country's first official LGBT tourism workshop in the presence of the Greek National Tourism Organization. "Thessaloniki: LGBT Tourism and Entrepreneurship," organized by Homo Evolution and the city's official tourism organization, was designed to educate local business people about marketing to the international LGBT community and making the city a gay-friendly destination. Host Giannis Papagiannopoulos, president and executive director of Homo Evolution (and editor of Antivirus Magazine), moderated the panel along with Homo Evolution staff members Simon Vasiliadis, project manager, and Nikos Sofianos, marketing director. Panel members included IGLTA board member/ITB representative Rika Jean-François and IGLTA Greek Ambassador Orhideea Rosu plus several IGLTA members. Mayor of Thessaloniki and President of the Thessaloniki Tourist Organization Giannis Boutaris saluted the workshop stating, "Thessaloniki is an open city to all its visitors."
