What do the Titanic and Narnia have in common? Exhibitions to both legendary tales have landed in Singapore’s iconic, Marina Bay Sands.
Australasia media were invited yesterday to explore both the day that saw the ‘unsinkable’ ship tear apart beneath the ocean and the movie explored and adored by two generations.
Speaking at the Titanic tour located at the ArtScience Museum, director Tom Zaller explained that the exhibition was unlike other stories told of the tragic event, because it re-tells the day using objects from the ship.
Commencing in 1907, the exhibition explored the initial idea to build both the Titanic and the Olympic, practically identical ship that offer luxury while getting as many third class passengers to US as possible.
The tour included recreations of certain parts of the ship including the boiler room and first class suites while providing a personal aspect with letter from actual Titanic passengers and other items found at the bottom of the ocean.
“Every case in the gallery is an object that we know the owner of,” Mr Zaller explained.
Lightening the mood, media were later invited to take a tour of the costumes and set props using the first three Narnia films.
From the White Witch’s gown to the fur coats and lamppost the exhibition had everything on hand to tantalise fans of the blockbuster movie.
