Websites using Sabre Web Services technology will enable users to search, compare and purchase flights and fares for up to 90 days outbound and 60 days inbound thanks to a new feature, Shop by Specific Fare, now released to developers. GM sales Sabre Pacific, Carl Frier, says Shop by Specific Fare is another example of how Sabre is meeting new traveller needs like the growing desire for calendar shopping where travellers can quickly see when it’s cheaper to travel on a given date. "Shop by Specific Fare will drastically improve the speed and simplicity of searching for fares by displaying a wider range of dates that a fare is applicable and available, using a quick-glance calendar view. This means that users can easily search through a list of similar flights and select the most suitable one based on price or convenience," says Frier. The software also allows users to search using specific fare types, and create and display promotional fares or Fare Teasers. Sabre has made the technical documentation for the product available to all developers, so they can begin coding the new capabilities into new and existing websites featuring Sabre Web Services technology. Full rollout of the product is slated for mid-January 2012. "Once Shop for Specific Fare goes live, the cost of the product will be automatically integrated into the Fare Scan fee, with no ordering or contract amendments necessary. As such, we're expecting very solid uptake of this efficiency-enhancing software," says Frier. Support material for Shop by Specific Fare can be found in the developer resource centre, or via the Sabre Web Services helpdesk. Shop by Specific Fare applies to one-way/round-trip itineraries only. |
