Australian Traveler Looking For Travel Mate to Compete For the World's Greatest Travellers Trophy

Tuesday, 17 January 2012

Wanted: An Australian that wants to win the trophy as "The World's Greatest Travelers." Reward: Fame, glory, a free trip around the world, and bragging rights!

Antony Cole, of Victoria's Fern Tree Gully, has been accepted as a competitor in the 8th annual real-life Amazing Race-like around the world travel adventure competition known internationally as The Global Scavenger Hunt.

Only one problem; he lacks a travel mate to make up a team necessary to compete! And, Antony, who has an exemplary travel CV that includes living and working in over two dozen countries around the world, from England to Turkey, and who's currently traveling on a volunteer trip in Laos and Cambodia—really wants to compete.

"This is something I have always wanted to do. Not just to say 'I could to that', but actually do it!" said Mr. Cole in his event interview.

"Antony has everything it takes to be a hardy competitor and represent Australia well in our annual travel adventure competition. In fact, maybe even win one for his country," says Event Director and author William Chalmers. "Bust sadly, he lacks a teammate right now. Maybe, just maybe, there is another fellow Australian up for the challenge too?"

The event begins in North America on April13th and will end back in North America on May 5th, 2012. And for the 23-days in between, just 25-two person teams will not only take travelers on A Blind Date With The World™, but compete in a real life Amazing Race that is designed to test the travel IQ of participants; those well-honed travel skills that serious international competitors bring to the event. Like: overcoming language barriers, intercultural competence, logistic challenges, team dynamics, the heat of competition, and three week’s worth of real-world creative problem solving, while traveling to at least 10 countries performing cultural scavenges; but this real-life event is also about getting travelers to trust strangers in strange lands and about personally and actively participating in sight-doing scavenges, not just passive sight-seeing while traveling the globe.

The 8th annual Global Scavenger Hunt is sure to not only bring back the romance of travel and but also test the Indiana Jones-like qualities of all competitors.

Frommer's 500 Best Adrenaline Adventures, lists The Global Scavenger Hunt as one of the best adventures around. Peter Greenberg has said that, “Unlike The Amazing Race, this challenge is more about your ability to connect with cultures than speed and agility.” Outside magazine bills it as, “One of the most amazing trips in the world!” And National Geographic says that the event is, “like Survivor, The Amazing Race and the Eco-Challenge all rolled into one except with much more cultural interaction."

Have what it takes to join Antony in his quest for The World's Greatest Travelers™ trophy and win a free around the world trip? Have three weeks to spare and US$9,900 for the entry fee?
