Check In & Luggage Allowance:
Check in was breezy at Athens International Airport with self-service kiosks available to use prior to proceeding through to the bag drop counters.

I was pleased to be able to change my aisle seat to a window and I was very surprised that my luggage came under weight (23 kg) after a week of shopping in Italy and Greece.

Having prepared my 50 Euro just in case I needed to pay the excess, I was much happier to have that extra money for my time in Paris instead!

On Time Service:
Boarding commenced approximately 45 minutes late, but we weren't notified of the delay at the gate.

It wasn't until we took our seats that the captain explained the reason for the delay, a thunder storm in Munich which delayed their departure.

The plane took off approximately 30 minutes late and arrived in Munich 20 minutes later than scheduled.

Seat Condition:
The seats looked as if they may be uncomfortable at first glance with their slimline design, but were surprisingly comfortable and allowed a generous amount of leg room.

Very clean, modern and sleek, the plane looked quite new throughout.

Entertainment:
There are no entertainment options on this aircraft, apart from their in flight magazine entitled (funnily enough) "Magazin". This is written with sections in both German and English.

Meal & Snack Service:
Shortly after take off we were served a complimentary hot dinner consisting of delectable meat balls, rice and vegetables, a wholemeal bread roll, crackers and cheese.

Both alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages were also served complimentary, with the flight attendants coming by twice for refills.

Service:
One thing that really stood out at Athens International Airport in general, was the friendliness of all of the staff we dealt with.

From check-in to security, everyone was courteous, friendly, professional and impressively multilingual.

Onboard, the flight attendants all spoke at least English and German, with several parlaying with passengers in Greek as well.

They were efficient and willing to assist anyone who required it.
