Friday, 7 September 2012

This year, as part of Best Western’s global sponsorship with World Vision, Best Western Australasia has raised over $27,000 for the food and nutrition programme in East Timor.

In East Timor, malnutrition affects almost half of the child population and unreliable access to food is one of the community’s most pressing challenges. In conjunction with charity partner World Vision Australia, Best Western’s support will help villages in East Timor grow more food, learn about improved food storage techniques and provide training to community members in making and selling income-generating goods.

Kimi Anderson, General Manager of Sales and Marketing said, “Best Western is proud to support the work of World Vision in the Asia-Pacific region. East Timor is one of our closest neighbours, and the work that World Vision does in this area is absolutely invaluable”.

David Towill, Senior Partnerships Manager at World Vision Australia, said “The situation in East Timor is dire, with high-level chronic household food insecurity and child malnutrition. Best Western’s support will help to provide local communities with access to vital education, training and support to overcome food shortages and malnutrition. We are proud that Best Western is assisting the people of East Timor achieve a better future”.
