Leading global travel search site Skyscanner has made its hugely popular flight search app available to Blackberry users to compare millions of flights today. The new BlackBerry app lets users plan their travel with friends and family wherever they are in the world through BlackBerry Messenger. Live flight searches can be shared, and results discussed, over instant messenger to find the best flight and price to a chosen destination.

Skyscanner is known for its clean and extremely user-friendly interface for mobile platforms and the newly launched Skyscanner Blackberry application lives up to its name. Available in 28 languages and supporting Blackberry 5, 6, 7 and 7.1, Skyscanner’s first Blackberry app also lets users save their searches on a ‘favourites’ tab to revisit regular routes.

The launch adds to Skyscanner’s suite of free apps, which have been downloaded over 9.5 million times in total since the beginning of 2011 and a Skyscanner app is downloaded every 5 seconds.

Bonamy Grimes, Co-founder and Director of Mobile at Skyscanner said, “We have seen a strong demand from Blackberry users around the world for our flight search app. Today’s savvy travellers want to plan their flights on the go and our first Blackberry app lets share, and discuss, their flight searches with friends and family via Blackberry Messenger.”

According to a research done by Frost & Sullivan in 2011, Blackberry holds 38.64% of the market share in Indonesia.

The new Skyscanner Blackberry app is free to download in BlackBerry App World.
