JQ adds NZ capacity, secures Wellington partnership

Monday, 22 October 2012

A new partnership between Jetstar and Wellington Employers’ Chamber of Commerce will add over half a million extra domestic seats a year to the Wellington market.

Through the new strategic partnership Jetstar will become one of the Chambers key sponsors.

Wellington is a popular business hub and important tourism destination for New Zealand and the extra flights and capacity increases aim to re-affirm the capital’s position.

Local businesses are also set to benefit from the increased transportation links.

“The Chamber understands that cost-effective travel options are vital for the region’s economic health,” Jetstar chief executive Australia and New Zealand David Hall said.

“Jetstar supports this view and offers a unique proposition for Wellington businesses, providing choice when they fly, ensuring healthy competition and helping to stretch hard-earned business dollars as far as possible.”

Jetstar recently announced the addition of a ninth 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft to its New Zealand fleet in November, with the majority of extra capacity to be deployed on domestic routes.
