MCI Australia Appoints A New Director Of Association Relations

MCI Australia welcomes its new Director of Association Relations, Rebecca Schepers.

In her role, Ms Schepers will lead MCI’s PCO business development unit in Australia and will manage all not-for-profit, government, medical and scientific association accounts.

Ms Schepers has a unique background; having originally trained as a scientist, she worked in biotechnology and medical research for eight years in Australia and the UK.  While in the UK, Ms Schepers made a career change to event management and she now has over eight years’ experience in the events industry, specialising in event management, business development, sponsorship, communication and marketing.

Prior to joining the MCI team, Ms Schepers was Communications Manager, External Relations at the Australian Synchrotron, a leading scientific research facility.  She was responsible for all events hosted by the facility and managed the creation, production and delivery of marketing, publications, sponsorship and advertising activities.

Ms Schepers is excited about her new role and looking forward to working for MCI—Australia’s most awarded meeting and event management company—to help Australian associations reach their organisational objectives.

“Not all associations realise the full benefits of partnering with a global PCO like MCI, so I want to focus on increasing that level of understanding,” said Schepers.  

Working directly under MCI’s Director of Association Relations, Asia Pacific, Stephan Wurzinger, Ms Schepers’ experience in the scientific industries will provide MCI with a unique insight into an important client sector.

“My background offers MCI’s scientific and medical clients the distinctive advantage of deeper understanding of their industries paired with my relevant expertise in event and congress management.  Coupling this with MCI’s know-how will be a winning combination,” said Ms Schepers.

Mr Wurzinger added, “I am eager to begin working with Ms Schepers on Australia’s association relations strategy. With her extensive range of skills and scientific industry knowledge and contacts, MCI is sure to strengthen its place as a leader in this field.”

Ms Schepers is located in MCI’s Melbourne office.
