CWT Meetings & Events, a global leader in events and meetings management, announced that Gloria Nykl is appointed meetings & events director, Australia & New Zealand. Nykl will be based in Sydney and will report to, Steven Smith, senior director meetings & events, Asia-Pacific.

Peter Brady, managing director Australia & New Zealand commented, “It is vital we have a dedicated meetings and events leader based locally to work with our team and to give our clients access to CWT Meetings & Events’ global services, world-class tools and processes”.

CWT is investing in this high-growth sector both through technology and people; earlier this month, Steven Smith was appointed senior director, CWT Meetings & Events, Asia-Pacific.  Nykl will work closely with Smith to execute the regional strategy locally, and develop specific services and products tailored to the Australia and New Zealand market.

Smith commented, “The meetings and events market has significant growth potential in Australia and New Zealand – this is an exciting time in the industry, not only here but across the entire Asia-Pacific region”.

Nykl has extensive knowledge of the events industry, with 15 years of experience across the full spectrum of corporate events. Since 2006, Nykl has worked for Axis Events Group in two senior positions, most recently as general manager operations, where she was in charge of running the events business and developing and implementing strategy. Prior to that, she was operations manager, during which time she organised a variety of corporate events around the world. She also spent four years with Marcus Evans as events operations manager, organising events across the Asia-Pacific region. Earlier in her career Nykl was part of the “Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games” (SOCOG) team.

Nykl holds strong business relationships with suppliers in all major regions and has an extensive knowledge of event venues and destinations worldwide.
