FaresProGuests of Silversea Cruises will soon be surfing the Internet faster and more conveniently as the ultra-luxury line launches remote wireless Internet access (also known as Wi Fi) in designated locations aboard its ships and revamps its Internet centres with new state-of-the-art computers featuring 17-inch flat screen monitors.  The enhanced cyber technology debuted aboard Silver Shadow last month and will be expanded to the rest of the fleet by the end of the year.

The line has partnered with Maritime Telecommunications Network, a leading provider of satellite-based communications, to provide the designated Wi-Fi hot-spot areas as well as other enhanced communications capabilities. With the implementation of the new system, guests who bring their personal Wi-Fi-enabled laptops will be able to access the Internet and their e-mail in the Panorama Lounge (aboard Silver Cloud and Silver Wind) or Observation Lounge (aboard Silver Shadow and Silver Whisper), as well as the library, card room and conference room aboard all ships.  Guests will also have access to over 270 daily newspapers from around the world, offered at a nominal fee, plus the Fox News channel will be joining CNN and BBC on the roster of complimentary in-suite-TV news channels available to guests.

"Many of our sophisticated, well-travelled guests need to stay connected with family, friends and business associates while on holiday," said Steve Odell, Silversea’s Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Asia Pacific. "We know that staying connected gives our guests more time to stay on board, relax and have fun, so we're very excited about our new partnership with MTN."

Among the enhancements available to guests visiting the newly-equipped Internet centres is the ability to quickly upload and send images from their digital cameras, making it easier than ever to share great holiday moments with family and friends.

Silversea Cruises is recognized as an innovator in the luxury segment, offering guests large-ship amenities aboard four intimate vessels, Silver Cloud, Silver Wind, Silver Shadow, and Silver Whisper, all designed to offer an atmosphere of conviviality and casual elegance. For the eighth year, Silversea was named "Number One" small-ship line in the 2004 "Readers' Choice" survey conducted by Condé Nast Traveler magazine.  For the sixth time, Silversea was selected "World's Best" small-ship line in the 2004 Travel + Leisure readers' poll.
