Branded NewsletterBali’s unique lagoon-styled resort today announces a new name, a new look and a host of new and exclusive features as part of a recently completed US$7.5 million renovation and refurbishment program.

A member of The Luxury Collection, Sheraton Laguna Nusa Dua, Bali recently underwent major refurbishment and will be changing its name to The Laguna Resort & Spa, Nusa Dua, Bali as of 1st September 2006.

The third largest luxury hotel brand in the world, The Luxury Collection delivers the finest hotel experiences through their unparalleled attention to their guests’ needs and preferences, their exceptional and distinctive properties and seamless integration of the customs, culture and environment of each property’s locale.  "We are delighted with this newly renovated Luxury Collection resort.  The resort’s indigenous qualities and sheer beauty make it a perfect fit within the brand, beautifully complimenting a portfolio which includes The Gritti Palace in Venice, The Princeville in Hawaii and the Hotel Imperial in Vienna," commented Fred Matti, Area Managing Director for Starwood Hotels in Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei.

The Luxury Collection is an elite group of over 60 of the world’s finest hotels and resorts in 27 countries featuring revered properties including The Phoenician in Scottsdale, USA, The Hotel Grand Bretagne, Athens and The Hotel Imperial, Vienna.

As part of the extensive renovation program, the hotel’s lobby has been restored in the style of old Batavia, echoing the days of plantations and grand colonial estates.

The 270 guest rooms and suites received complete refurbishment and all now offer 42” plasma screen TVs and in room DVD players to guests. Broadband internet access is available in all rooms and the property also offers wireless access throughout the resort. Access to the 5,000 square meters of swimmable lagoons is available from 48 rooms and suites on the ground floor.

The rooms have been decorated with carved walls using locally-sourced Palimanan stone and feature polished teak floors, burl wood cabinetry and hand-woven carpets. A deluxe bed, made exclusively for The Laguna, offers the ultimate in luxurious sleeping comfort. New bathrooms feature wall to floor marble, an oversized corner bath and shower unit and ‘waffle-knit’ bathrobes.

One of the unique features of this Luxury Collection property is the 24-hour butler service which is extended to guests in all room categories at The Laguna Resort & Spa, Nusa Dua Bali.

The convention and meeting facilities at The Laguna Resort & Spa were also extensively remodeled during the refurbishment program and now offer several exclusive features to organizers of meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions.

The Grand Ballroom has been doubled in capacity and is now more than 720 square meters in size. The renovations incorporated the new facility to divide the area into smaller configurations to accommodate smaller groups. The overall ballroom area can now be divided into three smaller rooms and can provide theatre, banquet, classroom and cocktail setups for anywhere between 12 and 600 guests.

All areas of the ballroom feature an independently controlled kinetic lighting system to create colour themes for events and the ballroom ceiling is decorated with Swarovski crystal droplets.

Staff members have also been given a new look to coincide with the remodeling program and a range of uniforms has been developed by leading Indonesian fashion designer Itang Yunasz.

At the Laguna Spa, the introduction of the latest in lighting technology has allowed the incorporation of Chromatherapy in all massage rooms, where the lighting can be adjusted to suit the mood. At Laguna Spa, an exclusive range of treatments use the Thalgo® range of marine beauty products, together with essential body care treatments from Java and Bali.

As part of the renovation, the resort has also been renamed The Laguna Resort & Spa, Nusa Dua, Bali, with the introduction of a new logo has been introduced and a marketing campaign launched under the banner ‘Luxury Is Our Middle Name’.
