New designer amenities will be released on Qantas flights later this month that will make the Flying Kangaroo one of the most fashionable carriers in the sky.

To do this, Qantas has recruited some of Australia’s most recognised creative talent to revamp their look. The likes of Marc Newson, Collette Dinnigan, Akira Isogawa and Peter Morrissey will offer their collections to the airline’s First and Business customers from March 25, 2007.

“As one of the world’s top tier premium airlines, Qantas is delighted to be able to showcase Australia’s celebrated design talent to our global customers,” said Qantas Executive General Manager John Borghetti. “This new designer collection is the first instalment in a new luxury product strategy, spearheaded by world famous Australian industrial designer Marc Newson who was recently named Designer of the Year at the annual Design Miami event.”

“Marc has designed Qantas’ award-winning Business Skybed sleeper seat in 2003 and has since been guiding all of our product development to create a distinctive style in line with Qantas’ premium positioning.”

The designing crew’s other offerings include floral silk purse, functional stylish pyjamas and with matching luxury eyeshade and slippers, hydrating products from French skincare house Payot Paris and Australian skincare company Ultraceuticals and a number of hair care and luxury items from top-tier Australian companies.

Qantas will also be making their First and Business class passengers feel even more at home with an introduction of luxury designer soft furnishings, tableware and cutlery produced by Alessi and bone china crockery produced by Noritake.
