Star Alliance soon to welcome Egypt Air

Friday, 13 June 2008

EgyptAir has just confirmed that it will make its full entrance into Star Alliance on the 11th of July, ending speculation that the carrier will not be ready before August.

Last year celebrating its 75th anniversary, state-owned EgyptAir has also recently relaunched the brand and its image.

Aiming to make Cairo a principle gateway into Africa, EgyptAir has already begun aligning itself with Star Alliance’s theme of Moving Under the One Roof, with the recent relocation of all Star Alliance carriers to Cairo’s new Terminal 3.

EgyptAir’s entrance into Star Alliance, follows on from Turkish Airlines’ earlier move.  The airline alliance will also look to welcoming Air India in coming months, which will bring the total number of members to 22.

EgyptAir currently encompasses a fleet size of 45 aircraft, flying to 72 destinations.

Star Alliance has also announced interest in finding a member airline in Brazil.
