Toddler left at airport due to Qantas rules
Wednesday, 23 July 2008A two-year old baby girl was left at Christchurch Airport over the weekend when Qantas regulations saw her separated from her older brother, reports local media. Hamish, 14, and Montana-Rose, 2 years and 10 months, were coming home from visiting their grandparents when flight attendants prevented Hamish from travelling with his younger sister as he was not 15 years or older. His mother Anna, had bought tickets for the children through the internet, and due to Hamish having to purchase an adult ticket, assumed there would be no issues with the toddler travelling when accompanied by an “Adult”. “They want him to pay to be an adult, but they don’t treat him as an adult,” she said to The Southerland Times. She said the wording of Qantas’ policy was not logically phrased during the online booking process. While there was a link for Children (2-11 yrs) flying alone, Anna thought this did not apply to Montana as she was travelling with a passenger recognised by Qantas as an adult. Anna adds that there were also no conditions printed on her printed e-ticket, which included information which took up four pages of A4 paper. |
