Turkey sailing, Venice gondolas and Tuscan wine: Topdeck adds more to Europe in 2013

Wednesday, 26 September 2012

A Turkish sailing adventure aboard a traditional gulet, wine tasting in Tuscany and Venice gondola rides are among the exciting new experiences added to Topdeck’s 2013 Europe program.

The leading youth operator has released its 140-page hard copy Europe Summer brochure featuring 88 trips ranging from the 6-day The British Isle adventure to the epic 49-day Mega European. The brochure, which spans from Dublin to Moscow and Athens to the Arctic Circle, also features popular festival trips including Oktoberfest and Running of the Bulls as well as Anzac Day packages.

The new 8-day Turkey Gulet Cruise sails along the magnificent Turquoise Coast aboard a traditional wooden vessel. The roundtrip from Fethiye visits beach paradises including St Nicholas Island, Kas and Gokkaya Bay.

Topdeck has also extended its popular Discover Europe by an extra two days. The 30-day adventure visits 15 countries and now includes Corfu in Greece.

Other changes include new ‘Totally Topdeck’ included experiences such as a gondola ride on all EuroHotel-style trips travelling through Venice, a visit to a family-run winery in the Chianti region and a cruise through Norway’s spectacular Geiranger Fjord.

“2013 is officially the year of more at Topdeck and we’ve ramped up our offerings right across Europe,” Topdeck Asia Pacific and South Africa sales manager Ben Ittensohn said.

“Young travellers are increasingly yearning for unique experiences which their friends haven’t had before, which is why we’ve introduced exciting new trips like Turkey sailing and the winery and al fresco dinner experience in Tuscany.

“Food is also a massive drawcard for our travellers and we’ve included more delicious experiences like a visit to the famous Hofbrauhaus in Berlin for a pork knuckle and a magnificent medieval banquet in Estonia’s capital Tallinn on our EuroHotel trips.”

Topdeck has also added two new 2013 winter trips – the 14-day Winter Britain & Ireland and the 10-day Winter Bravo Italia. Popular trips returning include TourRadar’s Most Amazing Youth Tour for 2012 - the 20-day European Getaway; and the 49-day Mega European through 20 countries.

A 10% earlybird offer will apply from 1 October until 28 December 2012. Other discounts are available and can be combined up to the value of 15%.

Mr Ittensohn said Topdeck had experienced its strongest summer sales on record this year and expected 2013 to be even more successful.

“The youth market has responded to the fact we operate ‘trips’ not tours, and we have trip leaders, not tour managers,” he said.

“We provide our clients with all the hassle-free comforts they expect but we also give them the time and space to enjoy each destination in their own way. Coupled with more meals and no tipping, this is an important part of the Topdeck culture and why we see so many people coming back to travel with us year after year.”
