Canada’s internationally-acclaimed Rocky Mountaineer is calling upon talented musicians, including Australians, to compose an original song that best compliments the train’s unique travel experience. The Rocky Mountaineer Song Contest is open to all genres of music from now until November 30, 2012.  The winning song will be used as the soundtrack to the upcoming Rocky Mountaineer promotional video, which will be seen and heard around the world.

The contest prize includes $5000 CDN and studio time with legendary Canadian music producer Garth Richardson, who has worked with artists such as Hedley, Red Hot Chili Peppers and many more. The winner will also receive a return trip to Vancouver, BC with three nights’ hotel accommodation.

“There is so much musical talent to be found all over the world and we are looking forward to seeing how artists can translate the Rocky Mountaineer experience into song,” says Hubert Wat, Vice President, Global Marketing of Rocky Mountaineer.  “With additional support from a producing legend, this is a once in a lifetime experience for aspiring musicians looking for a head start in the music industry.”

Songwriters/musicians are invited to submit a video of their original song with or without lyrics onto the Rocky Mountaineer Facebook page through their YouTube accounts. After the submission deadline, the company will post their top ten picks onto Facebook, inviting fans to vote for their favourite. Rocky Mountaineer will choose the song that best reflects the company’s brand as the final winner.
