Marketview reopens for summer

Friday, 14 December 2012

Visitors to Wollongong seeking an affordable accommodation alternative this summer need look no further than the newly reopened Marketview Hotel in central Wollongong.

Owned by the University of Wollongong and serving as student accommodation for most of the year, the hotel has opened its doors to the public in time for an exciting summer activities program that will see 18 sports, music and cultural events take place in the city between December and March 2013.

The event-filled program has been assembled by Destination Wollongong as part of an It’s ON! campaign, which has the backing of a state-wide Destination NSW activities push to encourage holidaymakers to discover NSW’s regional, rural and metropolitan areas.

It’s ON! is focused on attracting visitors to the Wollongong area and will yield more than $20 million in economic value for the community,” said Destination Wollongong Marketing Manager Joanne Tralaggan.

“We are proud to have partners like Marketview, which provide quality affordable accommodation for visitors who travel specifically for these important events.”

Formerly the IBIS Wollongong, the 144-room Marketview is located in the heart of Wollongong within easy walking distance of the beach, cinemas, the main shopping precinct and some of Wollongong’s best cafes and restaurants.

Marketview is now taking bookings from travellers who are headed to the Gong over summer.
