Palmer Motorama launch a resounding success

Monday, 7 January 2013

PALMER Coolum Resort’s latest attraction, the Palmer Motorama Vintage Car Museum, was officially opened on Friday evening (4 January) with private function for around 100 invited guests.

The local community was well represented with classic car club members, motoring enthusiasts and local car dealers forming a large portion of the eager audience.

Over 50 classic and vintage cars are housed at the Palmer Motorama, but even this is only a fraction of the full collection which will be on display when the museum moves to its permanent home within the resort later in the coming months.

“It was great to have so many of the local community attend the launch because this museum is something for them to enjoy,” Mr Gunnis said.

“This is one of the finest private car collections anywhere in Australia and Mr Palmer gave the audience some great background on how he acquired many of them, before conducting a personal tour around the museum.

“Everyone had a fantastic night and the feedback we received was amazing. The cars themselves are absolutely fascinating to look at, but the sense of history and the evolution of engineering is also something that everyone found captivating.”

The museum attracted over 300 people when open to the public for the first time (Saturday), resulting in opening hours being expanded to cater for demand from visitors and guests.

Housed in the Pavilion until February while construction of its permanent home within the resort is completed, the museum will now be open daily from 10.00am to 7.00pm allowing car enthusiasts to enjoy many of the resort’s other facilities during their stay.
