Home-grown hit soap, Neighbours, has woven P&O Cruises latest superliner, Pacific Jewel, into a dream holiday storyline which will air around Australia this week on September 29 and 30. Shot on August 27 onboard the ship in Sydneys Darling Harbour, the episodes represent only the third time in its 25-year history that the Network Ten program had been filmed outside Victoria. Almost 60 actors and crew from the show boarded Pacific Jewel at 9am and took only five hours to shoot the scenes around the running track and circus arena on the top decks of the ship highlighting P&O Cruises onboard entertainment. Thirty lucky Carnival Australia staff from head office and Pacific Jewel also had the chance to be a part of the day as extras. The storyline will see two of the shows favourite characters, Jarrod Toadfish Rebecchi (Ryan Moloney) and his girlfriend Sonya Mitchell (Eve Morey), leave Ramsay Street for the holiday of a lifetime on a tropical cruise. P&O Cruises expects Pacific Jewels cameo on Neighbours the longest running drama in Australian television history to generate more than $1 million worth of brand exposure to Australian audiences. A generation of Australians has grown up with Neighbours and we couldnt think of a better way of P&O Cruises marking almost 80 years of sailing from Australia than taking small part in the nations favourite TV drama, said Jenny Lourey, Senior Vice President of Carnival Australia, which operates P&O Cruises. The two episodes will air around Australia on Network Ten at 6.30pm on Wednesday September 29 and Thursday September 30 and in New Zealand on October 13 and 14. |
