In a bid to increase tourism from selected destinations, India has lifted visa restrictions imposed on travellers making subsequent visits.

Following the Mumbai attacks in 2009, the country introduced a 60-day gap rule on multiple-entry visas, First Post India reported.

Recognising restrictions behind the law, India has agreed to relax the rule on foreign visitors, however, citizens of Pakistan, China, Iran, Iraq, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sudan will continue to travel under the two-month gap rule.

The imposition will also continue to apply for any traveller with any sort of Pakistan lineage, even if it is two generations back.

Showcasing a more relaxed destination, earlier this year Indian tour operators increased their offerings to the gay and lesbian community as a means of becoming the ultimate ‘pink’ travel spot.
