Business Partnership Manager – Julie Anderson
|
TravelManagers has appointed a second dedicated business partnership manager for New South Wales. TravelManagers’ executive general manager, Mandy Scotney says the business has grown requiring additional support for its personal travel managers in this area.
“We’re thrilled Julie Anderson has accepted the position to Arthur Vicario in supporting our personal travel managers in New South Wales. These changes mean we now have five state business partnership managers and Michael Gazal who we promoted last year in the national business partnership role who the state business partnership managers report to.”
Anderson has senior retail experience having most recently been the operations manager for Bunnings but has two decades of travel experience and knowledge through various positions she has held at Carnival Australia and Thomas Cook.
“I love being part of the TravelManagers team supporting their personal travel managers. They certainly lead the way in the home-based travel consulting market and the support infrastructure they have in place for their personal travel managers stands out as one of the reasons why they are number one.”
TravelManagers is the only personal travel manager host agency with business partnership managers in both national and state roles with a physical presence in Brisbane, Perth and Melbourne as well as Sydney. Anderson says her role is primarily about attracting and recruiting new personal travel managers and then mentoring and coaching them to achieve their business objectives and goals.
“TravelManagers operates in a very inclusive way so it is also about facilitating knowledge sharing across the personal travel manager network and the National Partnership Office support team.”
Anderson believes that while her travel industry knowledge and connections will help immensely it is her experience from Bunnings at an operational level that will be invaluable.
“My role was all about reacting to change in a timely and efficient manner to ensure that the team and the store are always in a position to maximise sales. Having worked in travel I know how much the industry is constantly changing so the crossover is huge and what I learnt at Bunnings around teamwork and the importance of good internal communications is invaluable.
Anderson recalls fondly starting in the travel industry writing MCO’s and Holiday Tickets when TAA “The Friendly Way” combined with Ansett were the only options for domestic air travel.
“It has now completely changed however the fundamentals of selling a dream remain as true and relevant as ever. Stepping outside the industry got me thinking in a different way and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in.”
Anderson is a fan of the personal travel manager model and is keen to encourage experienced travel consultants and travel agency managers who aspire to have their own businesses and maximize their income to get in contact so that they are able to learn more about the opportunities that TravelManagers offer.
“Their offer is so strong and in addition to the high commission opportunities the back up and support is extensive and encompasses everything you’d want from an in-house ticketing unit, provision of their Local Marketing Kit, fortnightly personalized eNewletter, quarterly travel catalogues and dedicated famil trips that are exclusive to TravelManagers personal travel managers.”
