Following discussions over several months, MTA - Mobile Travel Agents’ Managing Director, Roy Merricks has roundly applauded a Club Med decision to encourage MTA consultants into bringing spouses and children along on familiarisation programs and called on other companies to follow the Club Med lead.
As part of the Club Med initiative, travel agents, their spouse and one child have the opportunity to enjoy a fully inclusive four-day stay at the new look Club Med Phuket - Kata Bay in August. Two room alternatives for more children are available at additional cost.
Describing the move as very smart and timely given MTA’s ‘family orientation’ and the “huge volumes” of family travel MTA consultants handle, Mr Merricks said he could not think of a better way to impress a family-oriented product upon the company’s agents.
“A ‘family road test’ is definitely the way to go,” Mr Merricks said.
“Offering to host the whole family is a brilliant idea and the perfect way to showcase a family-oriented product.
“I would actively encourage other companies to follow the Club Med lead and install similar programs.”
Mr Merricks said MTA consultants had been quick off the mark to take advantage of the offer with 10 agents and their families already signed up.
“Club Med has very kindly offered MTA consultants a total of 20 spots,” he said. “Judging by the speed with which the first 10 spots have gone, I don’t think it will be too long before the MTA allocation is completely filled,” he said.
