Echoing TCF chief executive, Glen Wells’ comments on the positive state of the Australian travel agency sector, MTA – Mobile Travel Agents’ managing director, Roy Merricks cites efficiency in a low overhead environment as being key to success.

“At the end of the day it’s all about efficiency in a low overhead environment, net margin and keeping a very tight control on expenses, “ Mr Merricks said.

“Being able to provide our MTA consultants with the tools they require to keep the major expense loading factors – office rents, employment and compliance costs – at bay have proved contributory factors to our consultants’ continued success and profitability.

“This overall efficiency is the very basis on which MTA has been founded and a key factor in why our company has continued to enjoy so much success – irrespective of the business environments we find since first launching in 1999.

“It is great to hear from the TCF that the majority of our industry colleagues are doing so well and taking advantage of the very positive business environment we find ourselves in today.”

“I would actively encourage any of the 200-plus agencies cited in the TCF report as reporting losses tohave a very close look at our business model and see for themselves why just exactly what it is that has kept MTA so successful for the past 13 years.
