Single, broke males are the perfect passengers

Tuesday, 20 November 2012

If you’re a 30-year-old male travelling alone and flying in economy, then you’re more likely to get a big friendly smile from your cabin crew, according to a new study.

Skyscanner’s search for the perfect passenger revealed that cabin crew most prefer male passengers, particularly those not travelling for work and unable to afford premium or business class tickets.

Meanwhile, 26 percent of crew said the most annoying passengers were those who insist on clicking fingers to get attention, while 13 percent find passengers leaving their seat before the light goes off an irritating quality.

Other annoying habits at 30,000 feet include stuffing too many bags into the overhead lockers, complaining there’s no space for bags in the locker, talking through the safety demo and asking for more blankets and pillows.

Skyscanner’s Sam Poullain said results were unexpected and “contrary to stereotypes”.

“It’s interesting to see that it’s the men who get the vote for the perfect passenger, while cabin crew prefer to work in economy rather than premium class,” he explained.
