As I look over the past three or four years, there are many different ways to classify different agencies across Australia.
I'm going to focus on one sort of agency: “The Gunna”.
Attributes of “the gunna” include statements like
- “It is really tough out there”
- “People just aren’t travelling as much as they used to”
- “ I will update my website soon”
- “ I've just been too busy”
- “We don’t need to change what we are doing, we just need more customers”
I recently came across the perfect response from Albert Einstein
“Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”.
This combined with a telling statement from one of our travel agents in the workshops in November was “there are not many spare seats on planes these days” .
People are travelling; statistics recently released show that more people are looking at travelling overseas in Australia than this time last year. Overseas is good as more people book overseas through travel agents. Hurricane Sandy, for the hell it unleashed, was good for agents.
I throw a challenge to you travel agents; If your complaints this year are the same as your complaints of last year, it is YOU that is limiting your potential.
Own the problem, put yourself out there, take some risks, try something new, go out and do some learning.
Absolutely, we are all busy. People who are successful or who want to be successful are always busy and they are time poor. They learn to be more effective.
I love having competitors who are doing nothing, who are not innovating, who are complaining about the same stuff they complained about last year. That’s because they will NEVER be successful. Do your competitors love you?
For you to succeed ; to grow, to enjoy your business more:
- if you say it, mean it
- if you mean it do it
- if you do it, live it
- if you live it – others will say it for you
and business will grow.
(but don’t whinge again next year if you DID nothing)
