| Fancy a Cruise Along the Canal Du Midi? |
As it travels through the landscape of Languedoc Roussillon, the Canal Du Midi is extremely picturesque, often serene, and shaded for much of its length by trees. Considered one of the most popular tourist destinations of France, the Canal is a UNESCO World Heritage site - and one of the best places to experience castles, quaint villages, superb cuisine & delicious wine. Don't forget it was the site of Rick Stein's gastronomic journey too!
With 5 Le Boat bases in the area - Castelnaudary, Trebes, Narbonne, Homps and Port-Cassafieres - guests can explore this amazing destination in an array of itineraries, from short, one-week or longer breaks.
Watch out for some of these highlights as you cruise:
- Béziers - The historic city that was the birthplace of the man who masterminded the Canal Du Midi. The city is also host to the famous five-day Feria de Beziers bullfighting event every August.
- Carcassonne - famous for its fortified medieval town called le Cité (also a UNESCO World Heritage site). The city organises regular jousting and falconry displays in the summer, as well as a host of events, concerts and theatre.
- Castelnaudary - where the 4th Foreign Regiment of the French Foreign Legion is based. During the last weekend of August the town hosts a Cassoulet festival, celebrating its main claim to fame!
Now clients can save 15% when cruising in the Canal Du Midi in April 2013 and save 10% for departures in June 2013. Minimum 7 nights and not applicable to 5 & 6 anchor boats. Must book by 31 Jan 2013.
