Only two weeks into the new year and air travel has had its second drunken disturbance, after a passenger on board Icelandair was caught spitting, screaming and hitting fellow travellers. Icelandair crew were reportedly forced to tie the disruptive passenger to his seat using tape and plastic restraints last week on a flight flying from Reykhavik to New York City, The Australian reported. An Icelandair spokesperson said the man was detained only after his behaviour was deemed “unruly and threatening” and was done so to “ensure the safety” of other passengers. According to the spokesperson, the man was tied to the aircraft seat using plastic cuffs and tape. The passenger was collected by police when the aircraft landed at JFK and was determined as drunk. No charges were filed. Last week a British Airways flight flying between Gatwick to Tunisia was forced to make an emergency landing after two drunken women forced their way into the aircraft’s cockpit. |
