Business expansion plans will create up to 400,000 new positions at InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) over the next four years, according to a new report. A Taleo Talent Mobility report found that the hotel group’s average growth of one new hotel per day would create a staffing hole that would see the hotel hiring up to 400,000 new people to “help support that growth pipeline”. Despite directly employing up to 7,858 people in 2010, IHG global talent systems manager Claire Guberg explained that the company was out to nurture internal talent as well as locate and support new talent too. “We wanted a consistent, across the board approach to managing this, and that meant being able to give our people the power to share their ambitions and career preferences with us,” Ms Guberg said. She explained that company would focus on finding talent that was “brand aware” and willing to work towards delivering the company’s vision to customers. “We believe that the best way of getting that level of brand-heartedness is to look internally for the key positions that we need around the globe,” she added. |
