The new relationship is part of AA’s focus on building its global network.

Bringing the Middle East closer to the US, American Airlines has announced a new codeshare with Qatar Airways.

Pending regulatory approval, the agreement will include codesharing on nonstop flights between the US and Doha, Qatar, flights connecting to Paris and London as well as flights to cities in the US.

Codeshare bookings are expected to commence from 10 February 2013, with travel begging from 26 February 2013.

Additionally, American Airlines AAdvantage members will be able to earn miles on the codeshare flights operated by Qatar Airways.

American Airlines vice president strategic alliances Kurt Stache said the new relationship signified the carrier’s focus on building its global network.

Earlier this month, American Airlines increased its reach into Europe, with an extension to its existing codeshare agreement with airberlin.
